I have had the Kinni-Qwik Bread and Bun Mix, from Kinnikinnick, on my counter for over a month. Many times I have found that venturing into new bread recipes can be disappointing, as well as time consuming. Since it’s a long Labor Day weekend, I decided to try some of the recipes on my “to do” list. Much to my very happy surprise, this was EXTREMELY easy to make. It certainly falls under the “easy bake” category.
The buns came out terrific, SOFT, and the bread tasted like bread with gluten in it. It even prompted a question from my son, “Mom, is this gluten free?” He couldn’t believe it either. I could immediately see other uses for it, such as some gluten free garlic and cheese bread sticks! Coming soon to a post near you…
I used a “bun” baking pan that had six round bun forms with a 1″ depth. This is definitely a recipe that needs a pan with at least a 1″ depth. There’s no time for this dough to rise outside of the oven, so don’t use shallow form pans.
The recipe calls for 3 cups of the Kinni-Qwik mix and 2 cups of water, milk or milk substitute. Mix with an electric beater for 2-3 minutes. Poor into waiting bread pans (almost any kind will do) and bake for about 20 minutes. Wow. It was really that easy and I can’t believe the mix just sat there on my counter for so long.
I served it with homemade cheeseburgers, green beans and Ore Ida Curly French Fries. The funny part is that my son has never had a cheeseburger WITH a bun, so he wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. He was all smiles once he figured it out!
